Terms of service

What you are buying, and what you are not.

Version 1.0 · effective 17 September 2026

The short version. You pay per employee per month. Either side can stop at the end of a month without a reason. Your data is yours, exportable at any time, and we do not sell it, mine it or train on it. There is no uptime guarantee, because a one-person operation that promised one would be making it up.

1Who this is between

These terms are between your company and Aravind of Manjeri PO, Kerala, India, trading as logtop. There is no registered company behind logtop yet; it is one person, and you are contracting with that person.

They apply from the moment your company's account is created. The privacy policy and the data processing agreement are part of them.

2Accounts

The first account created for a company becomes its owner. From then on registration is closed: employees cannot sign themselves up, and there is no public sign-up form that reaches your company. An administrator adds a person and gives them a one-time code, which the employee redeems and sets their own password. Codes can be reissued, and redeeming one uses it up.

You are responsible for what your administrators do, for keeping sign-in details to the people they belong to, and for removing access when somebody leaves. Deactivating an account cuts off every session it holds immediately.

logtop is for businesses tracking people who work for them. It is not for tracking somebody who has not been told, it is not for consumer use, and it is not for anyone under 16.

3What it costs

Every feature is in both. Only the per-head price moves with size, and the tier is worked out from your headcount that month rather than from something you have to declare in advance.

A person counts if their account is active. Deactivate somebody and they stop counting from that point; their recorded hours stay on the dashboard, because a timesheet does not stop existing when a job does.

Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax you are liable for. If we have agreed a per-seat rate with you, that rate is what applies and it does not move when a published tier does. That is the point of agreeing one.

4The trial

Two weeks, free, with everything switched on and no card taken: there is nowhere in the product to enter one. At the end you either start paying or you stop. Nothing converts by itself and nothing is charged because you forgot.

5Paying, and not paying

Invoices are monthly, in arrears, worked out from the headcount the dashboard already shows. Payment is due 14 days from the invoice.

If an invoice goes unpaid we will ask about it before doing anything else. If it stays unpaid the account is suspended, which signs everyone out and stops agents reporting. Suspension does not delete anything. Pay and it comes back exactly as it was. Deletion only happens on the timetable in section 10 of the DPA, after the account is closed.

6Your side

You agree to:

7Our side, including what we will not do

We will run the service, keep it patched, and answer mail at hello@logtop.org.

We will not sell your data, share it with advertisers, aggregate it into benchmarks or industry reports, or use it to train a model. Not as a current policy: there is no product here that could be built out of it, and that is the intention.

We will not add screenshot capture, screen recording, keystroke logging, webcam capture or remote control. That is not a feature backlog we are working through slowly. It is the boundary the product is built around, and if we ever cross it this section is what you should hold up.

8Availability, honestly

There is no service level agreement and no uptime guarantee. The server runs on Cloudflare's network, which is about as reliable as this gets, but the person who fixes anything that breaks is one person in one timezone. A fault at three in the morning gets looked at in the morning.

The design softens this more than an SLA would. The desktop app keeps tracking while the server is unreachable and uploads the backlog when it returns, so an outage costs you a stale dashboard rather than a missing day. If you need a contractual guarantee with credits attached, logtop is not the right product yet and we would rather say so now.

9Your data

It stays yours. We hold it to run the service for you and for nothing else, and the DPA is the binding version of that.

Export is in the product, as CSV, at any time, without asking us. That is deliberate: a product you cannot leave is a product that stops having to be good.

10Ending it

You can stop at the end of any month by telling us. There is no notice period, no minimum term, and nothing to cancel three screens deep.

We can stop with 30 days' notice, and will refund the unused part of anything paid in advance. We can end it immediately if the account is being used to break into other companies' data, or for something unlawful.

Either way, export first: section 10 of the DPA says what happens to the data and when.

11Warranties and liability

The service is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it is free of faults, that every figure is exact, or that it fits a particular purpose.

One specific caveat, because it matters more than the general words around it: the website list is derived from window titles by guesswork and is sometimes wrong, and idle time is measured from the operating system's idle clock, which counts reading a document as idle. Do not treat any single figure as proof of what a person did. It is a measurement, with the error bars a measurement has.

Neither side is liable to the other for lost profits, lost business, or indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else your local law puts out of reach. Your statutory data protection rights are untouched by this section.

12Law, and disagreements

These terms are governed by the law of India, and the courts of Kerala, India have jurisdiction.

Before either of us goes near a court, mail hello@logtop.org. At this size almost everything is a misunderstanding that a reply can fix, and the legal cost of the alternative would exceed a year of what you pay us.

13Changes

Material changes come with at least 30 days' notice by email, and the version and date at the top change with them. If you do not accept a new version, stop before it takes effect and we will refund the unused period.
